Beautiful carved gourd and hand painted cardinal bird in natural and green colors.
The carved gourds are ornamented crafts made from the fruits of the pumpkin, a product that grows in the north of our country.
The elaboration of carved gourds is ancestral, millenary; and this is demonstrated by the discovery of two small recorded gourds of 3,500 years old. This technique is inherited from generation to generation by Peruvian artisans.
There are several ways to make carved gourds: carved, the pyro-engravings and the painted ones, and each family of artisans has its own way of making them.
To make the burilado the main tool is the chisel that they sharpen in a special stone, to then make the incisions in filigree, expressing in the mate what they think, the customs of the peasant, the cattle ranch, the agriculture, the festivities of their towns, among other images. To achieve the dark tones by moving the matte away in an oven so that it acquires the different brown tones.
